THE PRETTY THINGS – SF SORROW with guest presenter johnTWINKalder.
The Pretty Things took their name from a Bo Diddley song and took the Rolling Stones original guitarist, Dick Taylor into their ranks. They were even wilder the Stones with lead singer Phil May being described as ‘the man with the longest hair in Britain,’their outrageous behaviour knew no boundaries.
In 1968 they moved away from rhythm and blues and produced the groundbreaking SF Sorrow at Abbey Road studios while Pink Floyd were working on A Saucerful of Secrets and the Beatles worked on the White Album.
Presented by legendary former Pretty Things drummer
A key proponent of the British psychedelic rock movement, TWINK was the man with the sticks on rock’s first concept album. He’s also performed with and played alongside such luminaries as The Pink Fairies, Mick Farren, Tomorrow with Steve Howe, Hawkwind, Ronnie Wood and Jon Lord. He jammed with Jimi Hendrix and he formed the short lived Stars with Syd Barrett.
In his book ‘White Bicycles,’ legendary producer Joe Boyd cites a Tomorrow show at UFO and, in particular, Twink’s performance as the zenith of 60’s pop culture.
We are delighted that TWINK will be with us to present and talk about one of rock’s most memorable albums and also to speak about his extraordinary life and career.
