LOVE – FOREVER CHANGES. Presented by JOHN F. KEENAN. NEW VENUE AT QUEEN’S MILL, AIRE STREET, CASTLEFORD.
John F. Keenan has been promoting music events since 1965. He’s brought some of the biggest biggest names in music to West Yorkshire including The Police, U2, Human League, Joy Division, New Order, Radiohead, Coldplay, Nirvana, Oasis, Blur, Pulp, The Verve, Hawkwind, Nico, Captain Beefheart, Curtis Mayfield, Richard Thompson, Bo Diddley, Stevie Marriott, Steve Harley, Ian Hunter, Ian Gillan, The Eurhythmics, Donovan, PIL, The Fall and many, many more.
We asked John to present his favourite album from the acts he’s promoted and he selected Love’s sublime masterpiece, ‘Forever Changes.’
Released in 1967, it’s one of the finest and most haunting albums to come out of the Summer of Love, an album of enduring beauty – it’s also one of the few major works of its era that saw the dark clouds looming on the cultural horizon, and the result was music that was as prescient as it was compelling.
In the interviewer’s chair will be our very good friend, former music journalist for The Guardian and the Melody Maker, HEATH COMMON.
