MARTHA’S KITCHEN  –  Chef Gary and his team will be taking a well deserved break in January. They’ll be cooking up something special again from Thursday 24th when we host a very special Burns Evening – see below.

BURNS EVENING
MARTHA’S KITCHEN will be serving up a real treat for you when we celebrate Robbie Burns birthday on THURSDAY 24TH JANUARY, the day before the great man’s actual arrival in 1796.

A TASTE OF ROME.LA DOLCE VITA. The sweet life will be experienced indeed when Martha’s Kitchen presents A TASTE OF ROME.

BIG thank you to producer JON ASTLEY for coming along to present the truly wonderful, ‘THE WHO LIVE AT LEEDS,’ album on 10th January. It’s on the list of best CAT Club events ever.

THURSDAY 31st JANUARY
FAIRPORT CONVENTION – WHAT WE DID ON OUR HOLIDAYS
CLINTON HEYLIN, leading music historian will be with us to present FAIRPORT CONVENTION’S classic album WHAT WE DID ON OUR HOLIDAYS.
“What We Did Instead of Holidays: A History of Fairport Convention and Its Extended Folk-Rock Family” is Clinton’s latest book – a comprehensive new biography of Fairport Convention and their many offshoots, telling the full story of English folk-rock in its golden era (1968-1982).

PRINCE & THE REVOLUTION – PURPLE RAIN
Presented by STUART WILLOUGHBY
A journey to Prince’s hometown of Minneapolis in the first anniversary week of the man’s death – Stuart found himself on an incredible adventure that brought him closer to the man himself than he ever could have imagined.
The result was the acclaimed publication ‘Minneapolis Reign.’

THURSDAY 21st MARCH. Tickets on sale 31st January.
JOY DIVISION – UNKNOWN PLEASURES.
The album will be presented by former Fall drummer, PAUL HANLEY.
A veteran of the Manchester post-punk scene Paul witnessed the rise of Joy Division first hand. His first book, ‘Leave The Capital,’ was published by Route. It tells the story of Manchester’s first professional recording studios and the seminal records that were made there Including ‘Unknown Pleasures.’
He once scored 21 on Ken Bruce’s Popmaster.

THE TAP & BARREL PRESENTS: KATIE SPENCER
Katie Spencer is a young woman from Hull. She is an artist. She is a fine talent and might be described as a progressive folk musician. She plays solo and with her band.
In February we’re lucky enough to have her presence at the Tap & Barrel. She be playing solo here as part of a her national tour.
